BLESSINGS BY THE BOX
Angel Food's groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into
a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different
and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail
value of approximately $50. Comparison shopping has been done
across the country in various communities using a wide range of
retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items
costing from between $42 and $78.
Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four
for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month.
The food is all the same high quality one would purchase at a grocery
store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods,
no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce
that is almost too ripe.
Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork.
Many participants in this bonus program appreciate the expanded
choices. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of units
or bonus foods an individual can purchase, and there are no applications
to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere.
Angel Food Ministries, like most all other retail grocery stores,
also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line
Food Stamp Voucher system.
HOW IT WORKS
Food sales and distribution are handled by iWorshipCenter. Orders
and payments are collected during the first part of each month.
Volunteers from the church pick up the food and prepare for Distribution
Day. Customers then come to iWC on Distribution Day to get their
food, bringing their own box(es) or baskets to be filled and their
receipt. All food not picked up on Distribution Day by the designated
time will be donated to local families.
BLESSINGS AT WORK
*There is no limit to the number of units you can purchase.
*Only $30 for a regular unit. Additional bonus packages vary in
price.
*There are no applications or qualifications; EVERYONE can participate
in the program.
*This is fresh quality product provided by the same distributors
that supply our local grocery chains!
*Meats are restaurant quality, many are vacuum sealed or IQF (individually
quick frozen).
*Orders are prepaid by cash or money orders.
DISTRIBUTION DAY
ON DISTRIBUTION DAY, ORDERS MAY BE PICKED UP AT IWORSHIPCENTER
BETWEEN 11:00 AND NOON.
Orders will not be held. There are no refunds once an order is
placed. Unclaimed boxes will be given to families in need. If Angel
Food has shortages they will be back-ordered and you can pick them
up the following month.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteers are needed to work on distribution day and take orders
throughout the month. This is a great opportunity for ministry that
meets the practical needs of the community without great time committments!
